IT consultancy · Dublin · companies of 10–80 people
The IT departmentyou don't have to hire.
For Irish companies that have outgrown whoever on staff is good with
computers, and can't yet justify hiring someone. One team for the
website, the CRM, the automation and the infrastructure — one invoice,
accountable for all of it.
You will probably arrive with one of these. They are on
one list because the second and third are usually underneath the
first, and one team holding all six costs less than a supplier for
each.
For when off-the-shelf runs out. Plenty of problems do not need custom
code; we scope yours before we quote it.
Internal tools and staff portals
Client-facing web apps
API and legacy integration
Reporting dashboards
Data migration and clean-up
Ongoing maintenance
Most IT problems aren't technical.
They're decisions nobody had time to make. A tool bought
and half-rolled-out. A supplier who left. A process that only works because
one person remembers the workaround.
We're hired to make those calls with you, then do the work
that follows from them.
How an engagement runs
Four stages, in order. You know the cost and the deliverable
before the next one starts.
01
Assess
We look at what you run today — tools, contracts, devices, the
spreadsheets nobody admits to — and where work actually gets stuck.
Free, and you keep the write-up whether or not you hire us.
You get An IT review and a prioritised risk list
02
Recommend
A written recommendation: what to fix first, what to leave alone, what to
replace, and roughly what each is worth. Fixed scope, fixed price and
named dates before anyone starts.
You get A written recommendation and a fixed quote
03
Deliver
Work lands in two-week increments you can see and use. Nothing goes live
without a review and a way back if it goes wrong.
You get A working system and handover documentation
04
Support
Monitoring, updates, backups and a named contact who already knows your
setup. The advice gets better once we know the business, which is the
argument for a retainer rather than a reason you have to take one.
You get A monthly report against an agreed SLA
The standards we commit to
These are contract terms, not averages we measured. They go
into every retainer, and if we miss one you hear it from us before you
notice it yourself.
Term
We commit to
What that means
First response
Within 4 hours
Business hours. Answered by one of the people who built your setup — not a first-line agent opening a ticket.
Uptime
99.9% target
On hosting we manage, measured monthly, excluding maintenance windows agreed with you in advance.
Monitoring
24/7
Alerts reach us before they reach your customers.
Ownership
Yours, always
Your domains, your accounts, your data, in your name. Documented handover on request, including if you leave.
These four go into every retainer.
Who you'd be working with
Small on purpose.
BDG is a small consultancy and intends to stay one. You deal with the
people doing the work, not an account manager relaying messages to a
delivery team you never meet.
That puts a ceiling on how many clients we take, and it is why we work
where we can reach you. We're in Dublin. Within an hour of it we come to
the building; further out you get the same people on a call, not a
different team.
A set number of hours each month for support, maintenance, small builds
and improvements. The one to take when the work will not be finished by
a launch date.
We would rather say this on a page than on the second call,
so: three situations where somebody else will serve you better, and we will
name them if we know them.
Under about ten people. A good freelancer will cost you less than
we will and give you the same result. Come back when the spreadsheets start
arguing with each other.
You need someone in the building every day. We are in Dublin and we
come in when it matters, but round-the-clock on-site cover is a hire, not a
consultancy.
You have already chosen the tool and want hands to install it. A
reseller will do that faster and cheaper. We are worth paying when the
decision is still open.

We come back within one business day with an honest read on
whether we're the right fit, and what we'd do first.
A reply from a person who read what you sent, with our honest read.
A 90-minute review, if it's a fit. In your office or on a call.
A written recommendation and a fixed quote. You keep the write-up
either way.
